Island Cat Resources & Adoption

Adoption

Every prospective adopter is interviewed by one of our volunteers. The goal is to place the right cat with the right person. As our cats are housed in foster homes, we are able to compile a personality profile on each. This assists in making a good match. In addition, our adoption volunteers educate the public on the plight of the abandoned cats we work with, the importance of spaying and neutering pets, pet care, and animal behavior. If you have room in your heart and home for a companion cat, either come see us at our mobile adoption units or call us. Will Your Home and Life Accommodate a Cat?

Adoption Screening
Potential adopters pick out a cat or kitten and fill out an application. There will be a short interview with one of our volunteers. Adoptions do not happen the same day. We will arrange a time to visit your home and the foster parents and a volunteer will meet there. Our adoption fee structure is:

  • Cats and kittens (under 8 years): $100

  • Cats (over 8 years): $75

Two cats adopted together: Full amount of the higher fee, half the amount of the lower or same fee. For example: a kitten and a cat (under 8) would be $100.00 + 50.00 = $150.00

Prior to Adoption
All cats and kittens are

  • Spayed or neutered
  • FeLV and FIV tested
  • FVRCP vaccinated
  • De-wormed, and
  • Treated for fleas with Advantage
